On September 7, 2020, Vodafone Idea unveiled its new brand, ‘Vi’, which is read as ‘we’. Earlier the merger of the two companies was known as Vodafone Idea LTD (VIL). Until now, VIL was offering services under two separate brands: Vodafone and Idea. Now, Vi will focus on initiatives, such as digital and IoT apart from investing in 4G services. VIL also looks at raising up to 25,000 crore to build a war chest to meet its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues and to fund near-term network rollout.
The largest telecom integration in the world, VIL will also increase tariffs to improve its average revenue per user.
Apart from a brand change, VIL will have to recover lost ground by focusing on pricing and improving its services, as a lot of customer loss from both Vodafone and Idea has happened due to network quality deterioration and the more aggressive pricing and offerings from competitors like Jio and Airtel.
