As per community transmission in India, the source of Covid-19 infection in 50 per cent of the cases in Delhi is unknown, according to Delhi Health Minister. He indicated that the assessment of the local administration points towards the third stage of spread. Similarly, the Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) stated that community transmission is there in the society.
A joint statement by Indian Public Health Association, Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine and Indian Association of Epidemologists read that it was unrealistic to expect that Covid-19 pandemic can be culminated though the community transmission was established across large sections in the country.
Community transmission is the third stage of this pandemic, the other three stages are: (i) import of a disease into a country in which the infection did not originate, (ii) the virus starts getting transmitted locally, and (iii) fourth stage is when it becomes endemic in some countries. Presently, malaria and dengue are endemic in India, i.e., they occur round the year across the country.

The virus causes symptoms ranging from an ltchy throat to pneumonia. Millions have been affected by the virus worldwide. Lockdown measures were implemented throughout the world to check the transmission.
Currently, efforts are being made globally to find a suitable vaccine. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Bharat Biotech International Ltd are also working in this direction.
