The Scottish actor, Sir Sean Connery, 90, passed away on October 31, 2020. He was best known for his portrayal of James Bond and appeared in seven spy thrillers—Dr No (1962); From Russia with Love (1963); Goldfinger (1964); Thunderball (1965); You Only Live Twice (1967); Diamonds are Forever (1971); and Never Say Never Again (1983). Other well-known films included The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and The Rock. His acting career spanned over seven decades. As per his publicist Nancy Seltzer, “He defined an era and a style. The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in megawatts; he helped create the modern blockbuster.” Sir Sean Connery won an Oscar in 1988 for his role in ‘The Untouchables’.

Though the list of awards and horours conferred upon him is long, some of them include Oscar Award (1988); William Wallace Award (2001); Kennedy Center Award (199); Legion D’Honneur (1991); British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) (1998); American Cinematheque Award (1992); Man of Culture Award (1990); Golden Globe Award (1988); and American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (1988), and so on.

Sean made his first major film appearance in 1957 with a British gangster film ‘No Road Back’. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. He was born in a working class Edinburgh family. He was a long time associate of Scottish independence movement. He is regarded as one of the best actor for his on-screen Portrayal of the British spy.
