On April 5, 2018, the UTTAM App for coal quality monitoring was launched. The Ministry of Coal and Coal India Limited (CIL) have jointly developed this app.
UTTAM stands for Unlocking Transparency by Third Party Assessment of Mined Coal; it ensures accountability, transparency, effectiveness and efficiency in coal ecosystem. Its aim is to make the citizens a stakeholder in the coal ecosystem, and it seeks to monitor the process of third party sampling of coal and coal dispatches across all the CIL subsidiaries. Through this app, bio-directional channel between CIL and a common citizen will become easy.
Third party sampling which includes information on production, dispatch and quantity samples of coal would be provided by this app. Its interactive map-based view gives holistic coverage of coal quality across subsidiaries on quality parameters such as declared Gross Colorific Value (GCV), analysed GCV and coverage parameters such as location and quantity sampled.
Citizens and those who use coal would get the information to compare and assess coal quality through this app. The app would provide proper mapping of grade of coal dispatched to the consumers, and bring transparency in coal quality assessment system.
